Bangladesh PM agrees to hold business meet in Agartala

AGARTALA: With the persuasion of trade bodies of Northeast and their counterparts in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed has agreed to hold a business meet on January 11 here along with her team soon after her arrival in the state.

Chief Secretary S K Panda said here on Saturday that a 30-member trade delegation would accompany the Bangladesh Prime Minister and she is scheduled to hold business meet with the traders of both the countries in presence of Government of India representatives and Tripura administration.

The business communities of both the countries had been demanding holding summit on business opportunities and discussion on cross border investment possibilities in prospective sectors as well as review of the decisions taken during Ms Wazed’s visit to Delhi in 2010. ”Finally, Bangladesh government has approved the proposal of holding business meet on January 11 afternoon followed by a cultural programme in Raj Bhawan,” Dr Panda said.

He adding that a team of 56 eminent personalities from Bangladesh, Delhi and Kolkata-based Bangladesh High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner would be accompanying her. (UNI)
