The miscreants, who were following the tourist taxi in a sumo, accosted the family and looted and assaulted them after their vehicle had stopped due to the traffic snarl at a place near Nongpoh. The miscreants decamped with Rs 90,000 in cash and gold ornaments after assaulting the occupants of the vehicle.

The police seized both the sumo and the tourist taxi and subsequently a police team rushed to Assam to take custody of the driver.
