Grenades hurled in Manipur

IMPHAL: Two grenades were found in two places in Imphal West district of Manipur on Monday, official sources said. The grenades were hurled, but those did not explode. Meanwhile, the Coordination Committee (CorCorm), a conglomerate of Manipur based seven militant groups, which has been continuously targeting Congress offices in its attempts to ban the Congress party in Manipur, denied hand in the latest attack. Congress offices in Manipur are under attack without cessation in the last four days. (NNN)

Nomination papers filed

IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, cabinet ministers and several MLAs on Monday filed their nomination papers for the January 28 tenth Assembly elections. Mr Singh filed his nomination papers at Thoubal DC office, his wife O Landhoni representing Khagabok also filed papers at the same office. Ms O Indira of BJP filed her papers. She will fight against Chief Minister . Others included Minister of Works K Ranjit, Minister Health Jayenta and PDA Chairman Dr Loken. MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang filed papers for Wangkhem AC. The last date for filing of nomination papers is January 11. (UNI)
