London: Pop star Katy Perry has warned fans to avoid gossip about the breakdown of her marriage to Russell Brand.
The pop star, who has been quiet about what led to the end of marriage, took to twitter to warn fans after her religious parents reportedly told churchgoers that her divorce was a gift from God to help them fill churches, the Daily Star reported.
“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that no one speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family,” she posted.
The ‘California Gurls’ hitmaker also thanked her followers for their well wishes and added, “I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.”
Perry married Brand in 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, India. Brand filed for divorce in Los Angeles last month, citing irreconcilable differences. The union lasted 14 months. (PTI)
