Bangla PM arrives in Tripura on historic visit

AGARTALA: With barely hours to go for the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the state administration has geared up to offer a warm welcome to her, daughter of Sheikh Mujibar Rahaman, architecture of Bangaldesh nation.

Hasina will be first foreign Prime Minister to visit the state which played a key role in Bangladesh liberation war in 1971.

Official sources said, Bangladesh Prime Minister will be accompanied by four Cabinet Minister, three MPs, her sister Rehena Siddiqi and other degenerates. Bangladesh Prime Minister will flay from Dhaka to Agartala Airport by a special aircraft on January 11 around 3 pm.

Union Minister for HRD Kapil Sibbal will welcome the Bangladesh Prime Minister at Airport.

Hasina will be offered guard of honour at State Guest House and later she will address a business meet at Prajna Bhavan on the same day.

On January 12, Bangladesh Prime Minister will attend the special convocation of Tripura Central University at Suryamaninagar where she will be accorded with D.Litt. Later, Hasina will attend a civic reception programme at Assam Rifle ground before wrapping up her two-day historic visit.

Vice President Hamid Answari is scheduled to arrive here on January 11 at 12.30 pm and will decorate Tripura Police with President’s Colour at AD Nagar Police ground.

On the following day, the VP will offer the D.Litt to Bangladesh Prime Minister at Varsity premises.

Security has been beefed up in and around the capital town to avoid any untoward incident. Tripura State Rifles (TSR)’s elite Commandos will provide security to Bangladesh Prime Minister along Advance Security Liaison (ASL) personnel, elite force of Bangladesh, said DIG Nepal Das here on Tuesday.
