SHIVNAGAR (BIHAR): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that the abundant ponds and other water bodies in Mithila region of the state will be developed in order to make the area self-reliant in fish production and consumption.
Mithila region has unlimited potential for fish production in the context of availability of ponds and other water bodies which will be developed for fish production to meet the demand for the state and also outside, he said at a public meeting in Shivnagar village under Benipatti block on the second day of his seva yatra to the district.
Kumar promised to develop the Mithila region as a tourist destination in view of its rich cultural heritage, archaeological sites and international recognition of Mithila paintings.
He also inaugurated a six-bedded additional primary health centre and said that an a centre of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) will be set up in the district soon to give vocational opportunity to the local youths.
The Chief Minister later visited Kirhar village to take a first hand view of bio-fertilizer being produced by one Sanjay Chaudhary and said that the state government has decided to give impetus to organic farming in Bihar to increase yield of agriculture produces. (PTI)
