CM leaves for Delhi today

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is leaving for Delhi on Wednesday to meet with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Dr Sangma will be discussing the State’s financial position and the upcoming Budget proposals for Meghalaya in 2012. Dr Sangma will return to the State on January 20 in time for the Meghalaya Day celebrations on January 21 when he will unveil a slew of schemes on tourism and livelihood creation. Talking to The Shillong Times on Tuesday, Dr Sangma said, “We are proactively promoting tourism by way of funding families who wish to offer homestay for tourists apart from other infrastructure. We are also launching the financial inclusion programme for the economically backward.”
