SHILLONG: CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing on Tuesday clarified that its joint secretary’s daughter was not working in any tea stall in Block – C Patta in Madanrting area of the city as had been reported, and said that the report was an attempt to tarnish the image of the joint secretary.

Speaking at a press conference, Kharshiing clarified that the allegation leveled by a lady residing in Mawblei (Madanrting) that the minor daughter of the joint secretary was employed as a child labour was totally misleading.

She stated that the woman resident had had taken the photograph when the child had just gone to the tea stall and the owner of the tea stall, an old lady, had just asked her lovingly to pass over a few utensils.

The woman, who spends her time mostly in this tea stall, took the photographs at that time and presented them in a different colour, Kharshiing said.

Meanwhile, the CSWO (Central Body), under Irene Hujon, expressed shock over the news item and urged the authorities to initiate proper action against the joint secretary for violation of the Child Labour Act (Prohibition And Regulation) Act.
