Melbourne: Three charges against Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta involving fund collections for her children’s charity were today dropped by an Australian court.
According to local media reports, Zaetta’s charity, Peace For The Children, was fined USD 50,000 in November 2011 for collecting tens of thousands of dollars despite not being registered to raise funds.
Zaetta’s co-director and the 41-year old company founder Grant Hilton was also fined USD 10,000 after pleading guilty to a string of charges as the director of a company and as an individual.
No conviction has been recorded against Hilton, who represented himself on 24 charges of unlawfully applying for support for an unregistered charity.
There were more than dozen similar charges against Zaetta, who shot to fame with her roles in Bollywood films Bunty Aur Babli and Saalam Namaste.
Three of those were dropped in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday, but the Office of Fair Trading said it would proceed with the 12 charges still remaining. The case has been adjourned to February 17. (PTI)
