SHILLONG: A collapse in the middle order followed by some poor fielding and catching led Meghalaya to a nine-wicket loss against Chattisgarh in the BCCI U-19 Associate and Affiliate Members Cricket Tournament in Raipur on Saturday.
Earlier, winning the toss , Chattisgarh elected to field first. The decision though seemed to backfire for the hosts as the Meghalaya batsmen started on a steady note with openers Raj Biswa (33) and Chaman (41) chipping in decent contributions. However, a collapse in the middle order undid all the hardwork of the openers and the team was bundled out for a paltry 127 in 38.4 overs. T. Marya claimed 4 wickets for Chattisgarh. In reply, the hosts cruised to victory in 20 overs with C. Jalkhsakti scoring 72 and Ian Coster contributing 34 to his team’s total. Raj Biswa claimed the lone wicket for Meghalaya.
