SHILLONG: The Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture (SAIIC) organized a condolence meeting in memory of JNBawri, who passed away on January 18 at the age of 92.
Bawri was an SAIIC Trustee at the time of his death. The meeting was attended by the Bawri’s eldest son Vinod Bawri, his nephew Mahesh Kandoi, former dancer Sandhya Lahiri besides others.
In his speech Vinod Bawri spoke about his father’s enthusiasm to drive the car of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. “The petrol price in those was 25p and he would thought about how to get that amount and even got scolding from his parents to drive the car,” recalled Vinod. He shared the last moments of his father.
Bawri’s nephew, Mahesh said, “In his dictionary there was no word ‘no’. Everything is possible was what he believed in and till his last moment he attended his office. He was an institution for us with such vast experiences and even at the age of 92 he lived fully.”
Others who spoke on the occasion were Women’s College Principal, Debasish Chowdhury, Sandhya Lahiri, SP Sharma and PK Debroy (both advocates).
