Govt releases pamphlet on safety precaution

SHILLONG: The Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guards, Government of India has published pamphlets with details of measures to be taken before, during and after the occurrence of any natural disaster.

The move will prove beneficial for Meghalaya which is located in Seismic Zone V making it highly vulnerable to earthquakes. Also parts of the State are prone to annual floods and landslides.

In view of this, there is an imperative need to apprise the public of the measures to be taken so as to minimize loss of human life and loss to property, a statement issued by the department said.

The pamphlets have also been uploaded on the website www.meghome-guards.gov.in.

The pamphlets educates about various do’s and don’ts after an earthquake has taken place, preparation of earthquake safety, measures to be adopted during an earthquake inside house, outside house, precaution while in moving vehicle besides safety measures after landslides, its precaution, warning signs, safety measures, emergency items / stores, flood and fire safety measures, school safety on earthquake among other measures.
