SHILLONG: Petra’s main vocalist John William Schlitt and guitarist Michael Hill are all set to enthrall the music lovers of Shillong with a unique ‘East meets West’ performance alongside renowned band from Nagaland Divine Connection at the Fifth Ground, Polo on Saturday.

Both Schlitt and Hill had performed in Shillong in 2004 as part of the Petra group.

Petra is a music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres.

While informing that he had been initially reluctant to play with the band from Nagaland when the offer first came to him, Schlitt said

“After seeing the music videos of the four-member band from Nagaland on the Internet I was totally impressed by their performance.”

Schlitt also believed that the highlight of this tour to India would be playing alongside the Divine Connection while adding that they have never done this before.

He further said that it would also be for the first time that they would be performing songs chosen by the band.

Some of the popular numbers to be performed include Beyond Belief, There is Someone, Thousand Words, Lord I Lift Your Name on High, Wake the Dead and hosts of others.

From here, where the concert will be held at the Fifth Ground from 4:00 pm onwards, Schlitt and the band will travel to Kohima to perform on Monday before heading to Dimapur for a concert on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that Schlitt was scheduled to perform in the city in November last year, but due to Visa problems and other logistical issues the same had to be postponed.
