Tura: The Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) has claimed to have killed a villager in Zikzak area of West Garo Hills for allegedly colluding with police and working against the outfit.

The GNLA area commander of Ampati Rahul called up Salantini Janera daily newspaper on Saturday evening to claim that his group had executed a villager from Danga Natong village under Zikzak for working with the police against the organization.

“We executed a villager from the village yesterday (Friday) because he was the main police informer operating against us for so long,” claimed GNLA commander Rahul.

The militant group questioned the Meghalaya police over its tactics of using villagers to work for them in lieu of compensation which is never paid to them.

“The police always encourage villagers to provide information ) but they never pay them for their duties. Will they acknowledge the work of the innocent villager who died today?” questioned the GNLA.

Till the time of filing this report the Garo Hills police were completely unaware of the execution in Zikzak area.
