SHILLONG: The Shillong San Martino Vendrame group will commemorate the 55th death anniversary of Father Constantino Vendrame by offering the Holy Mass at the Sacred Shrine in Mawlai at 4:30 on January 30.
The Archdiocese of Shillong has opened up the process of beatification for this priest who had worked indefatigably in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills and has been known to the local people as the “Apostle of the Khasi”.
Father Vendrame was born and brought up in San Martino Di Colle Umberto, Italy on August 27, 1893.
He came to Shillong in 1924 and died in January 31, 1957.
