TURA: Over 800 contestants participated in what was the first ever marathon organised by the Mikkimbe Chedillang Youth Club, Kusimkolgre-B at Williamnagar on Sunday. People from all age groups braved the morning chill and mist to participate in the event conducted under the theme “Run for Peace”.

The race was flagged off by cheif guest Jonathone N Sangma of Rongrenggiri Government Higher Secondary School, who was also the donor of the event.

“Peace is the need of the hour in Garo Hills and all of us have a role to play in it,” Sangma said.
