‘Census operation conducted under proper guidelines’

SHILLONG: Chief Secretary WMS Pariat has asserted that the Census 2011 has been conducted as per the strict guidelines of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India.

Reacting to the demand of the Jaintia NGOs Forum (JNF) which has asked the State Government to immediately halt the survey of the Census 2011 citing that previous Census reports have neglected the Jaintias, one of the major tribes of Meghalaya, Pariat said, “I don’t think it is much of an issue.”
