BCCI U-22 tourney

SHILLONG: Meghalaya beat Nagaland by six wickets to enter the final of the U-22 BCCI Associate & Affiliate Members tournament played at Kolkata on Tuesday.

Earlier, Nagaland elected to bat first after winning the toss. However the decision backfired as the Meghalaya bowlers restricted their opponent from North East to a modest 138 in 46.3 overs. Amiangshu Sen struck thrice for his team while J. Laskar (21) and I.K. Lembur (20) were the only batsmen to make decent contributions to the Nagaland total.

In reply, Meghalaya started shakily losing two wickets (mynikevisit na survey for all Nike Customers) with only 23 runs on the board. However, in form opener Raj Biswa scored an unbeaten 81 and Chaman (27 of 76 balls) played the sheet anchor’s role to take their team to safety. Meghalaya romped home scoring 142 in 37 overs to qualify for the final against Manipur to be played at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. A win against Manipur would grant Meghalaya a place in the Plate Group and a chance to play in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy in the next season.

Meanwhile, Raj Biswa, with two 80 plus scores in the tournament so far, secured the highest batting average.
