SHILLONG: In another fateful day mired with road accidents in the state, the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance (ESA) came to the rescue of the injured, as in the past, and saved their lives.

Two vehicles both travelling in the same direction were involved in an accident at Mawlai Nongkwar on January 31. The 108 ESA based at Lawmali admitted Romesh Basumatry (38/male) and Lanbiengroi Lymphuit (22/male) to Civil Hospital, Shillong. One person died on the spot.

In another case, Sonaki N Marak a pedestrian sustained injuries when she was hit by a motorbike while trying to cross the road at Gasuapara, South Garo Hills on January 31 at 9:06am. The 108 ESA based at Gasuapara admitted the injured to Dalu CHC.

Meanwhile, two vehicles both travelling in the opposite direction were involved in an accident at 101 Area, 3rd Mile on January 30 at 11:44pm. A Mahindra Max (MLO5F–8627) on its way to Shella from Shillong had a head on collision on a turning with a truck (ASO5DC–0090) travelling towards Shillong. The 108 ESA based at Shillong Civil Hospital admitted Mini Swet (27/female), Paialan Chyne (30/male) and Phosphorus Youthborne (32/male) to the hospital. (End)
