JOWAI: The Hynniewtrep National People’s Front (HNPF) Jaintia hills unit have strongly opposed the setting up of an illegal market in Bri-war area under Elaka Nongkhlieh owned by Thom Shadap of Shangpung Khliehrangnah

According to the HNPF-JH, Shadap was recently booked under criminal case for unlawful activities in the area. He was allegedly involved in the killing of one Chawas Phyrngap of Shnongrim in Decem ber last year.

The HNPF informed that the presence of the illegal market in the mining area at Briwar has posed high risk in the area with different crimes taking place frequently.
