Training
The Department of Civil Defence & Home Guards and Bharat Scouts & Guides are jointly organizing a 3-day First Aid Training from Feb1-3 at the State Headquarters, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Pine Mount Ridge. The Director General – CD & HG will grace the training on the 3rd instant at 2pm. A demonstration of the training will also be done by the trainees.
Assembly
The Annual Assembly of the Church of God, Meghalaya and Assam will be held at the Church of God, Mawryngkneng from February 9-12. The believers of the assembly can reach the venue from the National Highway Shillong-Jowai Road via Sohryngkham or via Diengpasoh through NEIGRIHMS and bypass road.
Pilgrimage
The Lum Sohpet Bneng Komiti of the Seng Khasi Kmie Mawkhar will hold the annual pilgrimage to the sacred U Lum Sohpet Bneng peak on February 5 from 8 am with the performance of rites and rituals at the heritage gateway and at 11 am at the Sanctum Sanctorium on top of the peak. All vehicles would proceed to the peak at 9 am and the return from 2 pm onwards.
Concert
More than a thousand people attended the first time Phawar Concert organised by the All India Radio, Shillong at Pynursla. Speaking on the occasion, Sub Divisional Officer of Pynursla National Highway JP Marbaniang expressed his happiness and lauded All India Radio, Shillong for having organised such a programme. According to Marbaniang, the concerts will help revive the age old tradition which sadly seems to be almost forgotten.
UDP clarifies
The United Democratic Party (UDP) Nongthymmai Circle expressed disappointment at the news item published in a section of the media regarding the selection of UDP Candidate from Nongthymmai Constituency. “The members of the UDP Nongthymmai Circle would like to clarify to the public that till date no candidate has been selected to contest from the UDP ticket in the coming Elections, 2013. The UDP Nongthymmai Circle will be having a meeting shortly to speed up the process of selection as per procedure,” said R Syiemiong and B Nari, both convener of UDP Nongthymmai Circle in a joint statement issued here on Thursday.
