SHILLONG: A day after the arrest of a regular fraudster, Marbatstar Kharbyngar from the city, police on Thursday arrested two more people involved with Kharbyngar in cheating and duping people.

Immediate investigation into the cheating case of Kharbyngar who was arrested by the police from Laitumkhrah on Wednesday, has led the police to track down two more individuals who are connected with Kharbyngar in cheating people all over Shillong and its suburbs.

The apprehended persons are identified as John Lyngdoh, a close friend of Kharbyngar and Marbatstar’s sister, Gina Linda Kharbyngar “These two individuals were involved in cheating case along with Marbatstar”, additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Vivek Syiem said.

The state police on Wednesday arrested Marbatstar who has been allegedly involved in a series of cheating and forgery cases which has affected many including a Lower Primary (LP) School at Smit.

Interestingly, it was also found out that the arrested fraudster, Marbatstar Kharbyngar was the same person who contested for the MDC elections representing the Congress party from Nongkrem Constituency in the year 2009.

Confirming this, police officials said Kharbyngar is the same man who represented the Congress Party in the year 2009 for the MDC elections. “This person who was once the general secretary of Durbar Smit was removed after he was found misusing the funds belonging to an LP school at Smit”, the official reported. Police officials informed that more activities of Kharbyngar are still under investigation and hoped that much more could be unearthed from the arrest of these three individuals.
