3 killed , 50 hurt in train mishap

Guwahati: Three persons were killed and over 50 injured, 16 of them seriously, when five coaches of a passenger train got derailed after it had hit an earth-carrying vehicle (dumper) at an unmanned crossing at Gossainghati, about 30 kilometers off Guwahati. The deputy commissioner of Kamrup district S K Roy informed that the driver of the dumper, helper and one Railway passenger were killed in the accident Up Chilarai Passenger was coming from Bongaigaon to Guwahati when it collided with the dumper. The NFR has announced Rs 15,000 as compensation for the dead and Rs 5000 each for seriously injured persons.
