London: Singer Adam Lambert has denied reports that he has joined rock band Queen as their new frontman, insisting his remarks about performing with the ‘We Will Rock You’ stars were “taken out of context”.
Lambert, 30, said he was actually referring to a previous performance he and the rock icons gave at the MTV European Music Awards in November last year, Daily Star reported.
“Oooh them clever reporters taking (sic) my quotes out of context… I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances. I was talking about the EMAs.
“That being said, I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions Mr Journalist!!,” he posted on Twitter.
However, a spokesperson for Queen’s label Hollywood Records said there have been discussions about Lambert teaming up with the band, but no official deal has been inked.
“Adam may perform with Queen at (European music festival) Sonisphere. This is not confirmed. Nothing has been signed,” the spokesperson said.
Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor had joined Lambert during his finale performance on 2009’s American Idol, and the trio teamed up once more at the MTV EMAs last year.
The collaborations led to speculation that Lambert would be stepping into take the place of late singer Freddie Mercury in an upcoming trek. (PTI)
