NONGSTOIN: ACS Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district, Assam Supriya Kumar Roy has stopped the ongoing improvement works in the existing Langpih market undertaken by the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi hills District last Saturday for reason that that there should not be any permanent structure in and around the border disputed areas and alleged that it was the case of encroachment.

It may be mentioned that last year the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills S.Kharlyngdoh had announced in Langpih that the construction of Langpih market was sanctioned 30lakhs and that it would soon be implemented.

Speaking to The Shillong Times S.Kharlyngdoh told that the allegations made by the DC of Kamrup was totally wrong because the construction was done at the same existing market and that it was not the case of encroachment.

Meanwhile, Kharlyngdoh IAS has sent a fact finding team led by a Magistrate to Langpih on Sunday to look into the matter.

It is further learnt that the DC Kamrup Assam had earlier written to the DC West Khasi Hills District regarding the works at Langpih.
