SHILLONG: Five days after the arrest of a regular fraudster, Marbatstar Kharbyngar from the city, more complaints have started pouring in from people who had fallen prey to the crimes of Kharbyngar.

Police sources informed on Monday that they received a complaint from one lady (name withheld on request) against Kharbyngar saying that he managed to grab Rs 5 lakh by mortgaging 23 acres of land he claimed to be his own.

“The land at Rapleng which Kharbyngar claimed to be located at Smit does not even fall within the jurisdiction of Smit. He managed to fool the lady by forging the signature of the Sardar of that area”, police sources informed.

It may be recalled a day after the arrest of Kharbyngar, police arrested two more people involved with Kharbyngar in cheating and duping people.

“At present four cases are being registered against Kharbyngar and we are still looking forward for more such cases where this man is involved”, the source added.
