SHILLONG: In the bid to enable the National Mission Authority to achieve its goal, the State Resource Centre for women in the state will be implemented during the current year.
Addressing a gathering at the regional conference on achieving convergence for empowerment of women here on Tuesday, Social Welfare minister JA Lyngdoh said, “ The State Resource centre for women is on its anvil for implementation during the current year.”
According to Lyngdoh, State Mission Authority and State Resource Centre for women has already been registered as a society.
“Women are the key contributors to the economy through both remunerated and unremunerated work at home , community or at work place,” he added.
It may be mentioned that the two day regional conference is also being attended by chairperson of women commissions from many neighbouring states including Assam and Mizoram.
The National Mission for Empowerment of women was launched in the year 2010 with an objective to empower women towards socio-economic development so that they become an integral part of the nation building process.
The Social welfare minister also stated that the vision of the mission is to promote all round development of women by focusing on a convergence approach for implementation of various schemes.
The meeting was also attended by the representative of neighbouring states including officials from the State Social Welfare department.
