Shillong: In an act of venagance, GNLA militants torched the house of a surrendered cadre, Andreash Ch Momin alias Nangnang at Bokkingre village, 2 kms from Williamnagar in East Garo Hills district at around 8:30 am on Wednesday.

The GNLA militants also chased away the family members of the former cadre to Goraggre village in West Garo Hills.

Sources informed that the GNLA had issued a two-week deadline to Nangnang to refund the money for the weapons he had deposited to the East Garo Hills Police during his surrender.

It may be noted that Nangnang was a senior cadre of the militant group and was recruited at the nascent start of the outfit. He had surrendered before Williamnagar Police in East Garo Hills on August 13 last year and had deposited an AK-56 rifle, three magazines containing 125 live ammunition rounds and one Chinese hand grenade.

At the time of his surrender, Nangnang had said that he was unable to cope with the difficulties faced by being on the run all the time.
