Wahingdoh lift First Div title

 SHILLONG: Wahingdoh SC defeated Lumdiengjri SC by 1 wicket in a nail-biting finish to the final match of the First Division Shillong Cricket League 2012 organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at Polo on Wednesday.

Lumdiengjri SC won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a competitive score of 169 for 9 in 35 overs.

The highlight of the innings was contributions from Malcolm who scored 43 and Sharailang who scored 25. For Wahingdoh Robert took 3 wickets for 26 runs and Terry took 2 for 32 runs.

In reply, Wahingdoh SC lost few quick wickets before steady knocks by Rickseng 27 and Banpynshngain 27 and lower down the order by Gaurav 24 and Phernold 20 helped their team win with 1 wicket in hand and 3 balls to spare. For Lumdiengjri Sharailang took 3 wickets for 33 runs while Benjamin and Pynkup scalped 2 wickets apiece.

Banpynshngain Dalloi of Wahingdoh was named Man of the Match while the Player of the Tournament award went to Wallam Kupar Lyngdoh of Lumdiengjri. The winning team took away a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runner-up team pocketed Rs 6000.

Meanwhile, the Shillong Cricket Association will be organising the Prize Money Inter Office cum Corporate Cricket Tournament 2012. Entry forms for the same are available at the SCA office and the last date for submission of completed forms is February 16.
