SHILLONG: The un-aided Secondary schools in the state have expressed disappointment over the lack of support from the state government in the form of grant, in-aid or adhoc.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the spokesperson of these un-aided Secondary schools, Hopestandard Marthong said hundreds of secondary schools in the state have for the past few years succeeded in producing many students in the first division at the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC).

“However, this effort has been totally ignored by the government. If the government turns its back on us, then we will be helpless and the future of the students especially in the rural areas will be in jeopardy thereby increasing the number of dropouts”, Marthong said.

Following this matter, many schools founders have called upon those un-aided secondary schools to meet at Dorbar Hall Raitsamthiah at 11am on February 14 to discuss on the matter and submit the memorandum to the government accordingly.
