SHILLONG: Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) is taxable at 20% under the Meghalaya Sales of Petroleum and Petroleum products including Motor Spirit and Lubricants Taxation Act (Assam Act IX of 1956) as adapted and amended by Meghalaya. As of now, there is no refueling facility in the state. Therefore tax collection on ATF in the state is zero at present.

With the possibility of Umroi/Shillong Airport being used as a re-fueling station and the likely resultant increase in airline traffic, the state government has granted full exemption of tax on ATF by a recent Notification No. ERTS (T) 90/2004/17 dated February 7, 2012.
