10 injured in road mishap

SHILLONG: Ten people were seriously injured after a Sumo (ML 10 A-2987) on its way to Sohjarang, West Khasi Hills from Shillong fell off the gorge at Ryndang Briew near Umiam here on Monday. According to the police, the vehicle was coming at a high speed when the driver lost control and drove off the gorge injuring everyone inside. Meanwhile, eye-witnesses have expressed disappointment over the late response of the GVK EMRI Emergency Service stating that despite many attempts to apprise them of the situation, help came very late without any satisfying answers. The injured victims are identified as Philicita Hujon, Riiada Diengdoh , Kip Mawiong, Rolin Nongrang , Bring Mawiong , Rolit Langnuih , Salina Moksha , Morning Dkhar , Salen Lyngdoh and one person male victim whose name is still not known.The victims have been taken to Shillong Civil Hospital for medical assistance.
