Thief apprehended

SHILLONG: The residents of Mawkhap village, East Khasi Hills apprehended one thief identified as Phrangsngi Nongkynrih as he allegedly broke into the house of one Sortila Majaw on Monday at around 7pm.

The apprehended person was later handed over to the Rangbah Shnong where he was locked up at the Village Community Hall throughout the night and on Tuesday morning, this man was brought in front of the Dorbar where he was fined Rs 1000 with a warning if such crimes were committed by him again, the fine would double to Rs 10, 000.

The villagers also seized many keys from Nongkynrih’s possession which were suspected to have been used to break into houses.
