New Delhi: Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Thursday revealed that the malignant lung tumour, for which he is undergoing chemotherapy in the Unites States, is “almost out of his system” after the first cycle of treatment.

“Got very good news from dr lawrence today! The tumor is almost way out of the system Aftr reading my todays scan !Second cycle has started,” Yuvraj, being treated at the Boston Institute of Cancer Research, wrote on his twitter account.

The 30-year-old, who went to US last month, has gone bald during the treatment, which will go on till the last week of March before the process of rehabilitation starts in April.

The dashing batsman had earlier got a message from US cycling legend Lance Armstrong, whose own inspirational triumph over cancer is well-documented, wishing him a speedy recovery.

“Message from @lancearmstrong makes me feel better! Thank you lance means a lot hope we can meet,” tweeted Yuvraj.

A photo of the Armstrong’s message, posted by Yuvraj, read: “Yuvi, I want you to know that the entire LIVESTRONG team is here for you.

“We say it all the time, and truly believe in it: Knowledge is power, Unity is strength, and Attitude is everything. Please know that we are here to help you and your family in any way possible. Go Yuvi!! Livestrong.”

Yuvraj was named Player of the Tournament in the World Cup, scoring 362 runs and grabbing 15 wickets in nine matches.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, meanwhile, has exuded confidence that Yuvraj Singh, who is battling lung cancer, would come out a winner.

Noting that the entire country was praying for the cricketer now undergoing chemotherapy in the US, Ganguly told mediapersons: “I am sure he will come out a winner fighting the disease. It will take some time. But age is on his side”.

Folk singer composes ‘Alaah’ for quick recovery: Among those praying for the quick recovery of Yuvraj Singh, undergoing chemotherapy in the United States for the malignant lung tumour, is a noted folk singer from Bundelkhand region who has composed an ‘Alaah’ (song for warriors) in praise of the cricketer with a hope that it will help him get better.

“Large number of Yuvi’s fans are praying for him by visiting religious places. I’m singing an ‘Alaah’ highlighting his qualities and his memorable innings, especially those played during last year’s World Cup. It is my humble prayer for his well-being,” singer Hargovind Vishwa told PTI.

The die-hard fan of Yuvraj says that while singing the ‘Alaah’, he believes that the cricketer is listening to it and will emerge victorious in his battle against the disease.

In the Bundelkhand region, ‘Alaah’ is being sung for warriors who go on a war since the past 800 years. (PTI)
