Police identifies GNLA victim

Tura: The East Garo Hills police have identified the person who was killed by GNLA on a road between Resubelpara to Gajing on Wednesday night for allegedly extorting money in the outfit’s name as Pechon Marak. According to police sources, the deceased belonged Damal Asim village under Dadenggre police station of West Garo Hills district. He got married to a girl from Dainadubi under Mendipather police station but had left his wife about three months ago. Following news about recovery of a body the relatives of his wife went to police and got confirmed that it was that of their son-in-law. The GNLA had branded the deceased as a rapist allegedly victimizing minor girls and also accused him of extorting money from people in the name of the outfit.
