AGARTALA: Tripura Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury will place full-fledged budget for 2012-13 in the Assembly on February 27 amidst financial crisis.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which held a meeting at Assembly’s conference hall here on Tuesday, fixed the schedule for the 11-day budget session beginning on February 24.

According to the business, the budget session will start with the speech of Governor Dr. DY Patil. On the same day, the Finance Minister will lay supplementary budget for the 2011-12.

On February 27, Chowdhury will place the full fledged budget amid resource constraint because of lesser allocation by the 13th Finance Commission. Now, it is to be seen, how the Finance Minister will offer a populist budget because Assembly election preparation is in the air.

The budget session will be stormy with opposition Congress mulling to pile heat on the government over several issues. The induction of Sahid Chowdhury in the cabinet has virtually given ammunition to opposition Congress to go ballistic against the Left Front government.

Congress has already vehemently opposed the induction of Sahid Chowdhury for his alleged relation with HUJI activist Mamun Miah. It has demanded CBI or NIA probe against Sahid Chowdhury for his alleged nexus with the HUJI activist.

The meeting of Congress Legislator Party (CLP) will be held on Thursday to prepare strategy for the upcoming budget session. The members of treasury bench are also expected to prepare roadmap for foiling the Congress strategy.
