GUWAHATI: Huge quantities of arms and ammunition were seized from a car which met with an accident in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district on Wednesday , police said.
A 9 mm pistol, a .22 mm pistol, a .765 mm pistol, an AK-47 rifle and several bullets were seized from a car coming here from Goalpara which collided with a pick-up van at Borteza, skidded off the road and fell into a nearby ditch.
Two men inside the car jumped out of the vehicle and managed to escape into the nearby jungles after the accident, they said.
The driver of the pick-up van, whose vehicle was severely damaged, informed the police who during search recovered huge quantities of arms and ammunition from the vehicle. (PTI)
