SHILLONG: The KHADC Executive Committee (EC) has summoned the Syiem of Mylliem, Latho Manik Syiem, on March 13 to reply on his failure to respond to the letter regarding the complaint against his Myntri, Mohindro Rapsang for his alleged involvement in ‘active politics’.

“We have summoned the Syiem of Mylliem since he has not responded to the letter sent by the Council on the complaint against Rapsang for his alleged involvement in politics,” Executive Member in charge Elaka Lamphrang Blah said while speaking to reporters here on Thursday.

While informing that the complaint against Rapsang was addressed to KHADC CEM Pyngshngain N Syiem, he said that after receiving the complaint, they had immediately written to the Syiem of Mylliem and communicated to him about this complaint. When asked as to why the Council has delayed to take action against the Myntri when the complaint was lodged on December 9 last year, Blah said that as per the rules, it is the Syiem of Mylliem and his Dorbar who are the competent authority for taking action against the Myntri.

When told that Rapsang was openly involved in politics since he had gone to Manipur as one of the election observers of the Congress party in Manipur, he said that they have to wait for the Syiem of Mylliem to take necessary action on this.

“Only if the Council is unsatisfied with the steps taken by the Syiem of Mylliem can it initiate further action in this matter,” Blah said.

Earlier, on the final day of the budget session, while replying to the question raised by Nongthymmai UDP MDC Latiplang Kharkongor on the failure of the Syiem of Mylliem to convene the Dorbar Hima since 2007, EM in charge Elaka said that they have also summoned the Syiem in this connection.
