Sekrenyi celebrated by Angami Nagas

KOHIMA: Sekrenyi, the annual traditional festival of the Angami Naga tribe is being celebrated with a pageantry of colour, dance and music in various parts of Kohima district since Saturday.

The festival was celebrated with a two-day Youth Expo at Kohima local ground centrally yesterday with governor Nikhil Kumar gracing the occasion as the chief guest.

It is being celebrated in a grand way with two-day function at Touphema, chief minister Neiphou Rio’s native village, from today.

Touphema, about 45 km north of Kohima, has been promoted as a tourist destination village under the state government’s rural tourism project.

Sekrenyi signifies an occasion to sanctify and purify one’s heart and soul and the surroundings where the villagers live in. (PTI)
