SHILLONG: It is the love for his wife that brings Ram Dularey to Shillong every year. Dularey who is a retired Inspector General of Railway police married Alka Surong Dularey, a girl from Shillong way back in 1967 and both lived a happy life for over forty years in Lucknow and Mumbai until Alka Surong left for her heavenly abode in the year 2010.
The death of Alka Surong Dularey shattered Ram Dularey but he was always aware of the desire of his wife who was a product of St Joseph’s School, Jaiaw.
Committed to fulfil the desire of Alka to help the school, Ram Dularey last year constructed a class room for the school of which his wife was a part.
This year too on the occasion of Alka’s birthday on March 4, Ram Dularey along with his family have come to Shillong from Mumbai with the sole intention of assessing the further needs of the school.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Saturday, Ram Dularey said, “Although I am a retired Government servant who is surviving on pension but I want to the help the school to whatever capacity I can”.
He said that he would soon donate a dais to the particular class so that teachers find it easy to impart the education to all the students.
When asked the reason for his contribution, he said, “My wife had told me to do something for the school and I am trying my bit.”
On March 4, Ram Dularey along with his family will visit the School on the occasion of her birthday and he will even hold discussions with the school management on the other needs of the class and the school.
