SHILLONG: Known as the ‘rock capital’, Shillong has been witnessing a number of concerts being organized in different parts of the city which saw the participation of aspiring youths from all over the city and its suburbs.
The love for music among the young people in the state has attracted many organizers from near and far to set foot on this pine city to expose the untapped musical talents of the people in Shillong.
With this thought in mind, the All India Radio and North Eastern Service organized the tribal western music called “Tri-West Concert” at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Saturday with an aim to exploit the talents of the people in the capital city.
Eight tribal western music groups from the region decked with guitars, drums and keyboards rocked the young audience with their modern music.
A large audience was witnessed in this concert.“Having such concerts once or twice a month is a sort of entertainment at the same relaxation for us, ” one young musician said.
Attending the concert as the chief guest, Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills district , AR Mawthoh lauded the efforts of the All India Radio for identifying the interests of the youth of the state by organizing such concerts.
The Western musical groups of the North Eastern Region like Rock Divine, Arcane Circle, Zebra Crossing, Shyllong, Aberrant, The Verb, Allien Gods, White Fire, Moon Wind, Fussy Logik, Boomarang and Shillong’s very own rock singer and entertainer, Lou Majaw and his friends displayed their musical talent.
Others who enjoyed the concert were Additional Superintendent of Police, Herbert G Lyngdoh, the Deputy Director General (E) of North Eastern Service of All India Radio Shillong, Ashish Bhatnagar, Director of North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Shillong N Shadap besides others.
