SHILLONG: The Wageasi Surrounding Area Developing Committee (WSADC) of East Garo Hills District has asked the district administration to take stern action against overloaded vehicles passing through the NH-62 , failing which the committee will take its own course of action. Expressing concern over the failure of the administration to solve this issue, the committee has asked the Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills District to immediately intervene into the matter. According to the memorandum submitted to the DC of EGH recently, the committee mentioned that time and again, they have been apprising the district administration of this menace but “The authority seems to be indifferent towards the appeal of the people whereby till date vehicles are seen carrying coal beyond 20 to 28 MT”, the memorandum stated.
