Endangered Slow Loris found in Tripura

Agartala: A young Slow Loris, an endangered primate, was recovered by the villagers at Ratanpur in Khowai district, about 50 km from here, Forest department officials said today. While moving in the jungles, some villagers found the animal yesterday and informed the office of Forest Ranger at Padmabil and the forest personnel took it in their custody. Commonly known as Bengal Slow Loris (Nycticebus Bengalensis), the animal generally lives in a group of five or six and an omnivore which survives on insects, small birds, eggs and foliage, said A K Bhowmik, Divisional Forest Officer and Director of Sepahijala Zoological Park near here. Explosives found in bus

Guwahati: Explosives have been recovered from a bus passenger in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district today. Police said one Kewa Hao, boarded a passenger bus from Dimapur heading from Guwahati, when he was intercepted by the police based on a secret tip off at Khatkati at 5.30 pm. One 7.5 pistol, two magazines, and some amount of live ammunition was recovered from him. The police has arrested the youth, hailing from Nagaland, and his interrogation was on. The person’s link with any extremist organisation is also being investigated, they said. (PTI)
