Twins delivered inside 108 ambulance

One Aklima Khaton, a resident of Garodubi village under the Selsella Block in West Garo Hills, gave birth to twins inside a 108 Ambulance on March 7. An SOS was received at the Emergency Response Center at 11:24am on March 7. The 108 ambulance based at Phulbari was sent immediately. However, on the way the babies were delivered in the ambulance. This is the second such instance in West Garo Hills.

Inauguration

Parliamentary Secretary incharge of Tourism inaugurated the Bharat Niram Rajiv Gandhi Kendra, Shella Bholaganj Block at Saitsohpen in Sohra on Tuesday.

Condolence

A meeting was held on March 4 in the premises of Nongthymmai Nepali HS School under the auspices of the Nepali Sahitya Parishad to condole the sudden demise of GN Pradhan, who passed away on January 6. Pradhan was a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award – 2010 and a renowned litteratteur of Nepali language. Those who spoke on the occasion include DN Joshi, DP Joshi, BB Chettri, NB Rai, CM Adhikari, Ganga Pathak, Sitaram Poudel, Madhu Sudan Rawat and Manju Lama. The meeting was presided over by the Vice President of the Parishad, Prem Rai.

Unclaimed body

The Medical Social Worker Officer, NEIGRIHMS has lodged an FIR at Mawdiangdiang Police Outpost stating that one Bimila Rai, 37, wife of Setu Dorjee expired on March 1 at NEIGRIHMS Hospital and her body has been lying unclaimed at the Hospital Mortuary Room since then. The Hospital Authority has requested Dorjee and relatives of the deceased to take possession of the body within 3 days failing which he Hospital authority will dispose of the body as per law. It may be mentioned that Dorjee admitted his wife at NEIGRIHMS on February 24.
