John Abraham gets bail

Mumbai: Bollywood actor John Abraham was taken into police custody on Friday in a six-year-old rash driving case but within hours got relief when the Bombay High Court granted him bail.

The 39-year-old actor was in police custody after a sessions court dismissed his plea against the 15-day imprisonment awarded to him in the case of rash driving here in 2006 in which two men were injured. “Considering the fact that the victims suffered only simple injuries and the accused has been on bail throughout, he (John) may be released on bail,” Justice R C Chavan said ordering the release of the actor and suspending his sentence. Abraham was asked to deposit Rs 20,000 to secure bail. John had taken the victims to hospital himself. (PTI)
