NGOs demand release of KSU members

JOWAI: Khliehriat-based NGOs including the FKJGP, the Jaintia Students’ Union, the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation and the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front have demanded unconditional release of four KSU members who were arrested a few days back.

Police had arrested KSU Umkiang president, Phanu Tongper and three other members including Renaldo Bamon, Jimmy Salahe and Rock Shadap for allegedly burning down two trucks in Umkiang and Lumshnong area on February 29 last during a night road blockade called by the KSU.

Demanding the immediate release of the KSU members the NGOs claimed that the arrested members of the KSU were innocent and the charges levelled against them by Khliehriat Police were baseless.
