New Delhi: Political crisis within the UPA deepened on Wednesday night with Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee writing to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and asking for replacement of Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi by another TMC leader Mukul Roy.
Sources said the Prime Minister called an emergency meeting at his 7 Race Course Road residence late tonight following the developments.
Earlier, the Prime Minister said his government was stable and had all the numbers in Parliament.
“Government is stable. We have all the numbers,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a function, ruling out any threat to his government. (UNI)
