Opp demands filling up of vacancies in CHCs, PHCs

 SHILLONG: Opposition on Monday demanded filling up of all vacant posts in different Community and Primary Health Centres in the State.

Raising the issue during Question Hour, the leader of Opposition Conrad K Sangma said, “In Selsella CHC the Government has filled up only around 15 out of the total 24 sanctioned posts. This is the situation in all the CHCs and PHCs of the State.”

Admitting that it is a difficult task for the Government to fill up various posts of specialist, the NCP leader suggested that the Government could initially fill up posts of ward boy and others.

Refuting the charges, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Health Rowell Lyngdoh in his reply said, “There is a shortage of staff only in newly set up health centres and the department is awaiting the government’s clearance to fill up these vacancies.”

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister informed that the amount allocated to run the CHCs is Rs 14.10 crore whereas Rs 40.02 crore is allocated for the PHCs.

Meanwhile, NCP legislator James K Sangma asked the minister if the Government has any plan to take over the EMRI service following allegations against its founder GV Krishna Reddy about his involvement in various scams.

While stating that the Government has no plan to take over the EMRI services, he said his was clueless regarding allegations against the EMRI founder.
