New Delhi: All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel on Thursday said that strict action would be taken against those who would be found guilty of negligence after a local football player died on the pitch during a game due to lack of medical attention in Bangalore.

“It’s unfortunate that something like this has happened. We will definitely look into it and take action,” said Patel.

D Venkatesh, a 27-year-old striker from Bangalore Mars, had come on as a late substitute in the home A-league match against South Western Railway yesterday. Within minutes, he collapsed on the ground. (PTI)
