Yangon: Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi will suspend campaigning for April 1 by-elections for four or five days while she recovers from exhaustion.
A statement from the Nobel laureate’s National League for Democracy party says Suu Kyi is suffering from exhaustion and stress, causing her to abruptly suspend her activities during a campaign trip over the weekend in southern Myanmar. The party says Suu Kyi has been weakened by a rigorous schedule that has taken her all over the country to campaign for her party’s candidates, who are running in 44 constituencies. (AP)
